From the time I could speak, I was a music fanatic. My first words were, "Thank you for the tape player." No joke! And my mother loves telling the story of when I got a cassette tape of Oasis' album, "(What's The Story) Morning Glory," for one of my early birthdays and how I used to play it nonstop in my little Barney tape player.
But enough about my early childhood. The real story started when I was 12, and I wrote my very first song. I doubt anyone (but me) remembers this, but the Cinnamon Toast Crunch cereal used to have a promotion where you could go to a website and use these little loops and build songs with them. Each one was exactly one minute in length. I wrote tons of little rap songs using that site. But needless to say, soon it wasn't enough. I wanted more! I needed better writing tools to really stretch my creative wings.
When I was around 13 or 14, I got a free MIDI songwriting program. I can't remember its name, but I do remember that I used to sit at my computer for hours on end and write song after song, honing my skills. I had quite the set up. I had nicked a USB microphone from my family's PlayStation 2 karaoke game, and used a rig of Windows Movie Maker, the aforementioned MIDI program, and a long list of trial shareware programs to record my masterpieces. The quality wasn't up to my standards, though, and once again, I wanted more.
By the time I was 16, I had successfully recorded over 100 songs, and all without an ounce of music theory training. I used Sony Acid and Steinburg Nuendo to really master my use of Digital Audio Workstations. 90% of my spare time was spent writing and producing. I loved producing music! I've always said, music is my passion. I've always known what I wanted to do with my life: Enrich people's lives with sound.
Now, fast forward to present day. I have over 200 original songs under my belt, with new ideas coming daily. I now have a slightly more professional set up, with Pro Tools 10, Logic 9, and Reason 7. My equipment includes a Scarlett 2i2 audio interface, Samson ResolvSE studio monitors, an Audio-Technica condenser microphone, and my MacBook Pro. I am in college at the moment, studying music production, and having the time of my life doing so. I simply can't wait to share my creativity with the world and I know that nothing can hold me back!
